THANK-YOU EVERYONE for coming to Rom’s very first 🌈colour bomb 💣 fundraiser event at Rom skatepark on 31st August. You were awesome, and a little bit frightening.
For those that couldn’t make it, sorry we missed you - but we’ll get you next time 😁
We called it Parent’s Payback - parent/carers could thank 😈 the kids for their company over the school holidays. The session started with scooting and skating then, we took all vehicles out of the park for the Payback. The parents had excited glints in their eyes and smiles on their faces when they were given the powder ammo’. There was no holding them back, once the kids were in Rom’s halfpipe, they didn’t stand a chance and were gunned-down in an explosion of colour. But… the kids came back fighting. The parents retreated to the Snake Run and bombed the kids again. Coulour Carnage! Minor skirmishes followed with many kids collecting more powder and putting it on their hair, face, clothes… truly horrible! 😂
The event ended with music and dancing in Rom’s reservoir plus, we gave the kids pots of ammo to get the parents back. The parents were fair game💥 and took their punishment.
We loved arranging the event and seeing so many happy, smiling faces.
Thanks for supporting Rom, we hope to show some pics of the event in the Reception soon.
Watch out for Rom’s Halloween event - details to follow.
Please note; No skatepark was harmed or indelibly stained in the making of this production! 😉

Rom Revival is a community day for riders and skaters to come together with local residents, craftspeople, artists, designers, and charities to form The Gathering.
It’s 10-years since Rom was listed Grade II by Historic England and we’re having a party to celebrate this cool monument to 1970’s skateboarding.

Eight skaters qualified as skateboard coaches under the SkateboardGB 'Get Rolling' course. As part of our plans to offer lessons to all, some of our graduates will be taking classes at Rom for all age groups. Plus, we will be organising a schools’ outreach programme this autumn to get youngsters skating and scooting.
A special thanks to Ric’ Magee Atxukarro who took the course.
We’re grateful to all those that turned-up for the BMX Car Boot Sale. It was the first to be held at Rom and we’ll definitely have another. Not only could you buy a bargain but test it out in the park straight away. It’s good to raise funds for Rom through events, the sale of food & beverages too.
We appreciate the support of all who came. Great effort Steve Habbishaw for arranging the event.
